JA Prince and Son - Worst Car Repair Experience EVER

I had my car towed to this garage because there was a bad oil leak. The owner, Richard, spent a long time in the phone with me explaining the issue, giving me a detailed estimate including the specific prices of several different parts.

He told me roughly what the labor would cost. Like an ***, I agreed on the phone without an estimate in writing. I showed up 24 hours later to pick up my car, the labor hours were DOUBLE what he had quoted- with no courtesy call verifying this would be ok or anything! On top of that, I was overcharged for parts he had given me prices for the previous day.

I needed my car back, so I paid and left but felt completely ripped off. Three days later, my car completely died. The owner insulted me on the phone when I called to complain, saying I was over-reacting. Call me crazy, when I spend a ton of money repairing my car I expect it to work.

I had it towed back to their garage, turns out they hadn't reset my computer. When I brought up my concerns of being overcharged for labor and being lied to about the price of parts, I was insulted again by the owner accusing me of wanting something for free. No, I wanted my car repaired properly for the amount I was quoted! Or at least a heads up if it's going to be extra!

I know, I'm SO unreasonable. But it gets even better- my car still reeked of burning oil! I found an excellent mechanic who immediately found the problem. The mechanics at Prince had not re-assembled my car properly, causing a new oil leak!

Apparently, grossly overcharging me wasn't good enough. They had to do such shoddy work that additional repairs were required. I have it in writing from the second mechanic that Prince was the cause of the problem, I'm not making uneducated assumptions here.

All told, Prince charged me $300 more than they quoted me, the additional repairs were $200. Please learn from my mistake and NEVER take a vehicle to JA Prince & Son!!!

Monetary Loss: $500.
